⚡ In short

  • Block someone from their profile in the Inbox or Visitors.
  • Blocked people don’t see the chat bubble and can’t send messages.
  • See and undo blocks under Settings → Where it shows → Blocked visitors.
  • Blocking also blocks their IP address, so a new browser doesn’t get around it.

When to block

Most visitors are genuine, but now and then someone sends abuse, spam links or the same message again and again. Blocking stops them without affecting anyone else.

Step 1: Open the visitor

In the Inbox, open their chat and look at the visitor details on the right. Or open Visitors and click their name to see the full profile.

Step 2: Block them

In the visitor’s profile, choose Block this visitor. From then on, the chat bubble no longer shows for them and any message they try to send is refused. Their past chat stays in your inbox for your records.

Their IP address is blocked too

Blocking also blocks the visitor’s IP address, so they can’t simply open a new browser and start again. Blocked addresses are listed under Settings → Where it shows → Other blocked IP addresses, where you can remove them.

Unblock someone

Open Settings → Where it shows. Under Blocked visitors you see everyone who is blocked. Press Unblock next to a name to let them chat again.

Other ways to cut spam

  • Hide the chat on pages that attract bots, like login pages, with Hide on some pages. See how to show the chat only on some pages.
  • Hide the chat in countries you don’t serve, under Countries.
  • Use the AI Agent to answer first, so your team only sees real questions.

FAQ

Does a blocked visitor know they are blocked?

They simply don’t see the chat. No message tells them they were blocked.

Does blocking delete the chat?

No. Past messages stay in your inbox.

Can a blocked person still visit my website?
