  • How to Sound Human in Live Chat: 8 Simple Tips

    ⚡ In short

    • Use the visitor’s name and reply to what they actually asked.
    • Write short messages, like you would on WhatsApp, not like an email.
    • Saved replies are fine. Edit the first line so they don’t sound copied.
    • Say when you need time, and never leave a chat silent.
    • Let the AI Agent handle repeat questions and hand over the rest to a person.

Visitors open live chat because they want a quick answer from a real person. If the replies sound like a script, they stop trusting the answer and leave. Here is how to keep your chats sounding human, even when you answer many at once.

    1. Start with a real greeting

Skip “Dear customer, thank you for contacting us.” Say hello, use their name if you have it, and show you read the question.

    • ❌ “Thank you for reaching out. How may I assist you today?”
    • ✅ “Hi Priya! Yes, the blue kurta is back in stock in M and L.”

    2. Keep messages short

Chat is not email. Send two or three short messages instead of one long paragraph. Visitors read them faster, and it feels like a conversation.

    3. Edit your saved replies

Canned responses save time, but everyone recognises copy-paste text. Keep a saved reply for the facts (prices, timings, return policy) and write the first line yourself: “Good question, here’s how returns work:”.

    4. Mirror the visitor’s tone

If someone writes casually, reply casually. If they are upset, slow down and be more careful. Match their language too. If they write in Hindi or Hinglish, it is fine to reply the same way.

    5. Say what you are doing

Silence feels like the chat broke. If you need to check something, say so: “Let me check that order, give me one minute.” Then come back with the answer.

    6. Admit what you don’t know

“I’m not sure, let me ask the team and message you back” is better than a guess. Take their email or phone number so you can follow up.

    7. Use emojis and exclamation marks lightly

One 🙂 or “Great!” makes a reply warmer. Five in a row looks like a bot.

    8. End the chat properly

Check they got what they needed: “Does that answer it? Anything else?” A clear goodbye makes visitors come back.

    Where an AI Agent fits

A human tone matters most for real questions: complaints, custom orders and buying decisions. Let an AI Agent answer the repeat questions (timings, delivery, prices) from your own content, and hand the rest to your team. Your people then have time to write thoughtful replies where it counts. Try it with LiveChatBot live chat, free to start.

    FAQ

Is it okay to use canned responses in live chat?

Yes. They keep answers accurate and fast. Just personalise the first line and remove anything that does not fit the question.

How fast should I reply in live chat?

Try to send the first reply within a minute. If you need longer to find an answer, tell the visitor and keep them updated.

Should a chatbot pretend to be human?

No. Be open that it is an AI assistant, and make it easy to reach a person. Visitors trust honest bots more.

  • How to Set Up Live Chat on Your Website

    ⚡ Quick answer

    • Sign up at livechatbot.in and add your website.
    • Open the Install step in Getting started.
    • WordPress: download the plugin and upload it. Any other site: copy one line of code and paste it before </body>.
    • Open your website. The chat bubble appears in the corner, and LiveChatBot marks it as working automatically.

This guide shows how to add LiveChatBot live chat to your website. It takes about two minutes and you don’t need to know how to code.

    Before you start

    • A free LiveChatBot account. Create one here, no credit card needed.
    • Access to your website’s admin area, or to whoever manages it.

    Option 1: WordPress (plugin)

    1. In LiveChatBot, open the Install step and choose WordPress.
    2. Click Download plugin. Your chat code is already inside, so there is nothing to copy.
    3. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the file and click Install Now.
    4. Click Activate. Open your website and the chat bubble appears in the corner.

Your latest chats also show up inside WordPress, under LiveChatBot in the menu and on the Dashboard.

Option 2: Any other website (one line of code)

    1. In the Install step choose Other website and click Copy chat code.
    2. In your site builder, look for a setting called “custom code”, “footer code” or “scripts” and paste the code there. If you edit HTML yourself, paste it just before </body>.
    3. Save, then open your website. The chat bubble appears in the corner.

This works for Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, Blogger and hand-coded HTML sites.

Other ways to add the chat

    • Inside a page: show the chat inside your Contact page instead of as a bubble. Paste the “Inside a page” code into a Custom HTML block.
    • React or Vue: download the ready-made component and add it once in your root component.
    • Joomla: download the Joomla 4/5 plugin and install it from System → Install → Extensions.

How to check it is working

Open your website in a new window and send yourself a test message. It appears in your LiveChatBot inbox. The dashboard also changes from “Chat not added yet” to “Chat is live” once it detects the chat on your site.

    Chat bubble not showing?

I pasted the code but nothing appears

Clear your website’s cache (caching plugins and hosting cache often keep the old page), then reload. Check that the code was saved on every page, for example in the footer, not just on one page.

The WordPress plugin is active but there is no bubble

Clear any caching plugin, then reload the page in a private window. Make sure you uploaded the plugin downloaded from your own account, because it contains your chat key.

Can I add the chat to more than one website?

Yes. Add each website in LiveChatBot and install its own code. The free plan includes 2 websites.
