Cookie Policy

Last updated: 16 October 2026

In short

  • We only use cookies and browser storage that the product needs to work.
  • We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.
  • The chat widget remembers a visitor with an ID saved in the browser, so a chat can continue on the next page.

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage that LiveChatBot uses on our own website and dashboard, and inside the chat widget that our customers add to their websites. Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. “Local storage” is a similar place in the browser where a website can keep small pieces of information.

1. On livechatbot.in and the dashboard

  • Session cookie (named after the app, ending in _session): keeps you signed in and remembers your session as you move between pages. It ends when you sign out or after a period of inactivity.
  • XSRF-TOKEN cookie: a security token that protects forms against cross-site request forgery. It lasts for the session.
  • “Remember me” cookie (only if you tick that box when signing in): keeps you signed in on that device for longer.
  • Display preferences in local storage: your chosen colour palette and whether you dismissed certain notices, so the dashboard looks the way you left it.
  • Notifications: if you allow browser notifications, your browser stores a push subscription and our service worker so alerts can reach you. You can turn this off in your browser settings at any time.

These are strictly necessary or functional. The site does not work properly without the session and security cookies.

2. In the chat widget on our customers’ websites

The widget uses the browser’s local storage (not advertising cookies) on the website where it is installed:

  • Visitor ID: a random identifier that lets the website owner recognise a returning visitor and continue an earlier conversation.
  • Widget state: small values such as the last message read, the number of visits, and which automatic messages have already been shown, so the visitor is not shown the same message again.

The website owner decides whether to use the widget and is responsible for telling their visitors about it, including asking for consent where their local law requires. If a website owner chooses to connect the widget to their own analytics tool, the widget can send simple chat events (for example “chat started”) to that tool. That tool is run by the website owner, not by us.

3. What we do not use

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or third-party analytics on our own website and dashboard, and we do not sell information collected through cookies.

4. Your choices

You can see and delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings, and most browsers let you block them. If you block the session or security cookies you will not be able to sign in. If you clear the widget’s storage, the widget will treat you as a new visitor and earlier chats may no longer appear.

5. Changes

If we add new cookies or storage, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. For more about how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
